Membership
The Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE) is a non-profit non-governmental organization. It is not tied to any particular national interests and thus the natural home for linguists who think European.
- SLE is the only continental professional organization of linguists and, besides the Comité International Permanent des Linguistes, the only international linguistic association.
- SLE is a democratically constituted organization. The Executive Committee, including the President and the Secretary, are responsible to the general assembly (the Business Meeting). If you want to engage in SLE activities, you are welcome as a candidate for an office.
- SLE Annual Meetings are professionally organized high-quality conferences that cover all of linguistics. They are the choice means if you want to update yourself on current work done in different subdisciplines and in different countries. The conferences are held at renowned universities all over Europe, every year in another country.
Why join the Societas Linguistica Europaea?
As a member, you are entitled to your annual copies of Folia Linguistica and Folia Linguistica Historica, two refereed linguistic journals of internationally recognized standing.
Folia Linguistica and Folia Linguistica Historica publish, first and foremost, articles of SLE members. These journals are thus your first address for publishing your own work.
The membership fee is low (it is even lower for students); participation fees at the annual meetings are moderate, too.

To become a member of the Societas Linguistica Europaea, and to pay your subscription online, simply begin by filling in the on-line application for SLE membership form. This will take you to our secure server site where you can enter your credit card details. After payment, your membership becomes operative, and you are instantly entitled to all the rights of a member.
Existing members
Existing members may renew their subscription online by credit card or complete and return the membership renewal form. To renew your membership please login to the Members' Area.
